My top picks from 2017

From makeup to skincare to my favourite tv series and songs – get a look in at all of my top picks of 2017.

First off, if you’re reading this I would just like to wish you a very happy new year and also say a big thank you for sticking with me as I try to figure out this whole blogging thing. I 100% slacked off towards the end of 2017 (no-ones fault but my own), so I have set myself a goal of blogging more consistently throughout 2018!

Which, of course, brings us here – to my first blog of the year. Now, throughout 2017, my obsession for all things make-up and beauty related grew even more – I personally didn’t think that was possible, but hey, I never fail to shock myself. Unfortunately, for my already struggling bank account, it meant that I probably dabbled in a few more things than I should have… however, I will not complain as I definitely discovered some gems that will be coming with me and my makeup bag in the new year.

So, from beauty to haircare to other random things such as my favourite tv series and songs (they’re just too good to not mention), here are my top picks from 2017.

Maybelline Superstay foundation AND Revlon Colourstay foundation
I honestly feel like I’ve been on the hunt for a decent drugstore foundation since I was about 14. Eight years later, I think I may have just found what I was looking for. I have fairly dry skin but get a super-oily t-zone so finding a foundation that is matte, lasts all day and looks good is a challenge, BUT, let me tell you, these two foundations SHOCKED me.
The Maybelline Superstay is a 10/10 foundation – it’s matte, it’s full coverage, it makes my skin look amazing AND not to mention, it’s an absolute bargain. While the Revlon Colourstay is very similar in that it has a great matte finish and lasts all day, it has a light – medium coverage, making it more of a good everyday foundation.

Makeup Revolution Baked Highlighter in Peach Lights
For all the fair skinned girls out there, wear this and I promise you will be glowing like the little angel that you are. Both myself and my bestie live by this highlighter and have received endless compliments. A tiny bit goes a long way as it’s so pigmented but it’s easy to create both a natural and full on shine.

Makeup Revolution New -trals vs Neutrals eyeshadow palette
Sticking with Revolution because I feel like they killed the game last year and this eyeshadow palette basically has me written all over it. Packed with the perfect pink, red, burgundy and gold shimmery shades, I used and abused this palette for both daytime and night-time looks.

Eyelure lashes in 101
Lashes quickly became a must have for me in 2017, especially for nights out. I found myself liking the Eyelure lashes especially in the style 101- they’re the perfect length, thickness and give good volume.

Superdrug Micellar Argan Oil Face Wipes
I discovered these more towards the end of the year. I’m super picky about makeup wipes but I now officially swear by these. They get every scrap of makeup off, they leave my skin feeling silky smooth and they are rich in argan oil which means not only do they smell amazing they also moisturise your skin.

Nivea In-Shower Moisturiser
A good one for when you’re in a rush or can’t be bothered to moisturise after a shower. It pretty much does what it says on the bottle as well as make life a whole lot easier.

Elvive Extraordinary Oil Shampoo and Conditioner
I actually discovered this shampoo and conditioner in 2016, but throughout the last year it’s remained my go-to. It’s really helped to nourish my hair and repair it from all it’s damage and once again, it’s infused with argan oil so it’s great for moisturising.

13 Reasons Why
A great show that helps  to spread awareness surrounding mental health and bullying etc. I finished the series in more or less two days because I lowkey became obsessed.
Jane the Virgin
After the first few episodes I was hooked. As cringy as it can be, it’s a heart-warming, funny series that is perfect for binging on when you’re feeling down.
Unless you’ve been living under a rock, I don’t know anyone that doesn’t watch this show. I’ve been a fan of Power since it first aired and the 2017 series proved just how much of a banger it is.
Stranger Things
The first season left me confused as hell but I thought I’d give the second a go anyway. It easily became one of my favourite tv series of the year – once I had finished I felt like part of my life was missing.
Real Detective
My guilty pleasure is crime documentaries because they fascinate me even if they do leave me scared for my life. Real Detective is top of the game for crime stories and I’m not ashamed to say I finished the series in a day.

Shout out Spotify for plugging me with my top picks because I could honestly go on forever when it comes to music. For this, I’m just going to put my playlist on shuffle and give you the first five because I genuinely can’t choose.

Lotto Boyz – No Don
DVSN – Morning After (the whole album)
SZA – Love Galore
Dave – No Words
J Hus – Bouff Daddy
